Blairgowrie & District Next Steps Walking Group
Expected Restart Date: Not known
Updated: 10:51 Sunday 17 May - information changing regularly at the moment so do check with the group direct.
Blairgowrie and District Next Steps Wednesday Walks offer two grades of walk from an easy short and slow to a slightly faster and longer each week. These are a gentle regular exercise opportunity done in a fully supported and led environment.
Each week we take a bus trip to a location within reach of Blairgowrie for the walk. On our return there is time for a cup of tea/coffee and a chat, if you haven't done that during the walk!
If you are new to the area these walks are a great opportunity to meet new people, find out what is going on and at the same time of course take part in regular exercise.
Inspired by this start many of our participants have gone on to hill-walking with our advanced walks group, the Ramblers or the Hill Walking Club. Indeed some do all three!
All you need is good stout footwear and appropriate outer clothing to suit the weather. A snack and small drink can be carried if you wish.
There will be at least 2 walk groups per session. One suitable for those who prefer a slow pace, which may also be shorter and/or involve a minibus and another which will cater for a medium and/or fast pace possibly covering a greater distance. Please note that the walks may be re-programmed or changed at short notice. If this occurs it will be due to factors outwith our control.

Cost - £5 per person per walk (under review) which is payable in the Town Hall before the walk commences. This pays for the bus, hall and refreshments.
Transport - A minibus may be provided if available, to assist with the short walks. All bus seats are limited and are allocated on a first come first served basis. We can cater for 50 people without pre-booking, any more requires advance notice.
Refreshments - There will be time for tea/coffee and a chat in the Town Hall at the end of each walk. It is advisable to carry some water and a light snack with you during the walk.
Clothing - All you need is appropriate clothing for the weather, and footwear (stout walking shoes as a minimum) suitable for walking on all types of terrain. Some of the paths we walk on are occasionally rough, rutted or muddy.
Assisted Access - Some of the walks are suitable for buggies and wheelchairs - please check with a walk leader in the Town Hall in advance. If you are prepared with a lightweight large wheeled buggy and willing to carry it and your child over obstacles (with assistance) then most walks will be suitable.
Timing - We will usually return to Blairgowrie Town Hall by 11.30 and 12.30. This is dependant on the bus journey time, weather conditions and the rate at which people walk, which may vary. Please note that we cannot guarantee to finish at any specific time.
