March Book Review

Actually not a book, a magazine!

THE PEOPLE’S FRIEND

In the first edition of each month you will find a page – THINK GREEN, BE GREEN.

Here you will find really useful hints and tips for living in a sustainable way.

Also included are pieces of news on products which are less damaging to our planet such as eco-friendly cleaning materials, ideas for plastic free options at Christmas, Easter and other celebrations and how and where to recycle difficult items.

There is always a DID YOU KNOW?  with some facts – always referencing sources.  A recent example highlighted rainforests - the habitat for half of all known animal and plant species and recommended the magazine “Animal Planet” as suitable for future naturalists.   Another was that the size of the Pacific Garbage Patch – (an area mid Pacific Ocean made up of waste, mostly single use plastic) is equal to the whole of the UK!   Makes you realise what is happening!

Each THINK GREEN, BE GREEN page will have a book review – of a very relevant publication – recent recommendations were -  “How Bad Are Bananas?”  by Mike Berners-Lee and “the Joyful Environmentalist” by Isabel Losada, both of which have encouraged Climate Café members to purchase and review what proved to be great reads!

The THINK GREEN, BE GREEN page is bright and optimistic and helpful.  The layout makes it easy to digest, pick up, use and save for future reference.

A little gem on sale in all our local newsagents. Highly recommended!
