Bamff Rewilding Project
Date: Thursday 3 September

Bamff Rewilding project begins with Big Bug Hunt
Report from Alan Ross
On the 22 August, volunteers helped carry out a baseline invertebrate survey across the Bamff estate at Alyth, using a variety of survey methods ranging from Bee and Butterfly counts to Worm counts. These will be repeated in years to come to help monitor population changes, as the land is allowed to Rewild into a more natural state. It is hoped the Rewilding of over 160 hectares will significantly increase the wildlife potential as well as the carbon sequestration of the soils.
Climate scientists have claimed that restoring nature on a massive scale is critical if we are to stand any chance of cooling the planet and avoiding irreversible climate and ecological breakdown.
