Coronation Corner

Three years on, we can finally say the hard landscaping is finishedšŸ˜ƒ. We thank everyone for their patience, their donations, support and encouragement. Lots of ideas for the ā€œevent spaceā€ and future - once we can get back to something resembling normal life. Planting will begin as soon as possible!

A further three years on and look at it now! Planting was carefully chosen to attract bees and butterflies as well as be pleasant to the eye and make Coronation Corner a place people would like to sit for a while and enjoy. A lot of work took place for the past couple of years with further planting being done on a regular basis and benches installed for the enjoyment of the residents of the Town. A long awaited mural is still being discussed but hopefully one day... We were delighted to hear from the biodiversity group recently that seven species of bees were found at Coronation Corner which proves the considered planting has paid off. Enjoy! Coronation Corner is just beginning to show signs of life and should be at it's best very shortly. You will be seeing some lovely plaques around the area. These are from the Remembering Them Covid Project and we very much appreciate being able to show them off in this environment. Look out for them dotted around. It has also been suggested we may hold mini plant sales or perhaps veg from the Community Garden later in the year at Coronation Corner as it is such a lovely space that is not really used to it's full potential. Watch this space!!

Coronation Corner - Day 14

Coronation Corner - Day 14

Date: 29 October 2020

Day 14 and itā€™s still rainingšŸ„ŗ.

Undeterred, the hard landscaping work continues and hopefully finished at the end of next week - on schedulešŸ‘. It is so exciting to see the shape of the new path layout and event space emerge.

Plenty room for overspill from the Community Market, outdoor music events or art classes.

We hope to get at least some of the planting done before winter sets in.

All the granite sets in marking out the centre space and path layout shaping up. Considering the lousy weather these guys have had to suffer, the progress they have made is fantastic.
