Ardblair Bed

Ardblair bed. This being Blair in Bloom's Saphhire Anniversary (45 years) it was decided to revamp the bed at Ardblair. The plants were overgrown and a bit out of control so it was decided to remove all plats and replant as our Sapphire Bed in various shades of blue, yellow and pink to celebrate this milestone.
We required a digger to dig out all the old earth and then a team of hardy volunteers dug over by hand removing as many roots and weeds as possible. We finally replanted following a design originally created by Janine and Phil Seymour . The bed has now to establish itself but we are keeping an eye on the plants and ensuring they are watered when necessary to help them on their way. This was a big project but one that was well worth doing as it is one of the first beds you see on entering the town on the Perth Road.
All the hard work of last year is beginning to pay off with the planting becoming established and a lovely show of tulips at the moment. It will take a little while yet to see the whole effect of the planting and now we see how plants have settled in we may need further planting to fill out areas that may be a bit sparse but all in good time as a new bed takes some time to settle and grow.
