Get your thinking caps on for Rattray Community Garden quiz night

News Release

January 2024

Get your thinking caps on for Rattray Community Garden quiz night Volunteers behind the new Rattray Community Garden are hosting a quiz night at Rattray Bowling Club on Friday, February 2nd.

The quiz is part of ongoing fundraising efforts by those involved with the community garden to help facilitate its transformation into a welcoming, relaxing area for people of all ages where local groups can meet, supporting health and wellbeing, reducing social isolation, developing gardening skills, and observing wildlife.

It will feature more than 80 questions on a range of subjects relating to Blairgowrie and Rattray, Perthshire and Scotland. Prizes for the winning team have been donated by Moyness Nurseries. Open to everyone, it is £20 for a team of four to take part. As well as the quiz, there will also be a raffle.

Rattray Community Garden is based in what used to be a walled garden for Mount Ericht House and has been home to Blair in Bloom for a number of years.

The event is one of a number of activities lined up by those behind the new facility that aim to raise awareness of the community garden, encourage people to get involved in its development and raise funds to support its maintenance.

Since the land was purchased by the Trust, a small team of volunteers has been working towards ensuring that the site is safe and accessible for the wider community. Utilities have been installed at the site, the polytunnels have been refurbished, a new greenhouse has been built and the relevant permissions required to start refurbishment work on one of the buildings have been secured. Potential sources of funding for the building work are currently being explored.
