A popular showcase event highlighting everything that is going on in Blairgowrie and Rattray returns to Perthshire’s largest town this weekend.
The event on Saturday, June 14, is being organised by Blairgowrie and Rattray Development Trust (BRDT) and offers local residents an opportunity to find out more about the wide range of activities and events that take place in the town.
It also gives community groups, event organisers and associations in Blairgowrie and Rattray an opportunity to showcase the work they are doing locally.
More than 40 community organisations took part in the 2024 event, many of whom have signed up to attend again this year.
Lesley McDonald is operations officer with BRDT. She said: “If you have ever asked what’s going on in Blairgowrie and Rattray then this is the event for you!
“The Town Event is always a great afternoon, with lots of community groups and organisations providing information and updates on the work that hardworking volunteers do in the town.
“It also provides an opportunity for those who go along to get involved with some of the initiatives and projects carried out by the groups.
“We have a diverse range of community groups, organisations and events in Blairgowrie and Rattray doing some wonderful work and we’re delighted that so many community organisations have signed up to take part in the Town Event again this year.
“So why not pop in for a visit - you will be amazed at all the work being done by local groups and how easy it is to get involved in your community life!”
As well as finding out more about the different community groups and organisations in the town, visitors to the event will also be able to see a sneak preview of progress on the new-look Discover Blairgowrie website, which is currently undergoing a major revamp thanks to support from Perth and Kinross Council’s Community-Led Local Development (CLLD) Fund.
Discover Blairgowrie provides more than 150 local community groups and 250 local businesses with a platform to add their details, events and activities. The website also offers local residents and visitors to the town a ‘one-stop shop’ for information on what’s going on in Blairgowrie and Rattray.
The funding is facilitating a re-design of the site and improved functionality, bringing the platform up-to-date and fit for purpose for the next five years.
The 2025 Town Event takes place on Saturday, June 14, from noon to 2pm in Blairgowrie Town Hall. It is free to attend, and refreshments provided by the local Scottish Women’s Institute group will be available.
