Festive get-together for volunteers

Festive get-together for volunteers

Volunteers from two of Blairgowrie and Rattray Development Trust’s (BRDT) core projects, Booklore

and the Blairgowrie & Rattray Hub Magazine, enjoyed a festive get-together last week.

The gathering was held in Booklore on Upper Allan Street in Blairgowrie and those in attendance

were treated to festive nibbles and drinks as well as carol singing from the Women’s Walk and Talk

Group.

Popular second-hand book store Booklore is run entirely by a team of dedicated and enthusiastic

volunteers who help to ensure that thousands of books are diverted from landfill every year and

instead find new homes with keen readers. All proceeds from the bookshop support projects in the

local community.

The Blairgowrie & Rattray Hub Magazine is a free quarterly magazine produced by BRDT and

supported by a number of local advertisers. Written, edited and distributed by volunteers, more than

5,000 copies of the magazine are delivered to almost every house in the town.

The hard-working volunteers are among some 2000 residents in Perthshire’s largest town who

regularly give up their time to help make a positive difference to those who live, work and visit

Blairgowrie and Rattray.
