Date set for local development trust AGM
Blairgowrie and Rattray Development Trust (BRDT) is to hold its AGM on Monday, November 25 th , 2024 at 6pm in Blairgowrie Town Hall.
As well as the formal business, which will include reports by BRDT’s chair and treasurer and the election of trustees, there will also be a short presentation on the Trust’s plans for 2025.
Since forming in 2018, BRDT has evolved and adapted, and in 2021 merged with Proactive Communities. BRDT now has a number of core activities including The HEAT Project, Booklore, the BaRI Food Project, Rattray Community Garden, The Hub Magazine and Discover Blairgowrie website, and Biodiversity Blair, all of which aim to contribute to improving the experience of the town for the benefit of all.
BRDT chair Linda Tait is looking forward to the meeting.
She said “Since our last AGM, great progress has been made in the town in line with the aspirations set out in the community action plan.
“We’ll be looking back at some of the highlights of what has been achieved over the last 12 months and would encourage as many people as possible to join us for this year’s AGM - it is a great opportunity to hear more about how BRDT is working to help develop the town and really put Blairgowrie and Rattray on the map as a caring and vibrant place to live, work and visit.
“Blairgowrie and Rattray is a wonderfully diverse community and since taking on the role of BRDT chair in February this year I have been continually impressed by the enthusiasm, energy, commitment, passion for the town and professionalism of the people that we encounter every day in our work.
“Looking forward to the year ahead, we will continue to listen to all voices in the community and be bold in our strategy to make improvements, grow our resources and further build strong relationships within the community, our partners and external organisations that can help us take our town to the next level.
“Join us on November 25th at Blairgowrie Town Hall to find out more.”
BRDT works with local people, community groups, businesses, the local authority and other stakeholders to help support and encourage a thriving and attractive town with a strong sense of community and identity and to have a positive impact for those who live, work and visit Blairgowrie and Rattray.
It does this by working towards the vision and priorities of the Community Action plan (CAP) which outlines the aims and aspirations of the community. The CAP was created in 2018 and updated in 2021 and forms the core foundation for BRDT activities.
The AGM is open to members of the public (although only members of the Trust can vote on any decisions), as part of efforts to ensure that anyone who wishes to find out more about the work of the Trust has the opportunity to do so.
It is free to join the Trust and membership is renewed annually.
It will be possible for people to join the Trust on the evening of the AGM.
Anyone who is interested in finding out more about the AGM should contact the Trust by emailing admin@discoverblairgowrie.co.uk
