Date set for Blairgowrie and Rattray Development Trust AGM
Date: Monday 3 November
Blairgowrie and Rattray Development Trust (BRDT) is to hold its AGM on Thursday, November 6th, 2025 at 6pm in Blairgowrie Town Hall.
The meeting, which is open to everyone to attend, will look at some of the highlights of the Trust’s activities in the financial year 2024/25.
As well as the formal business, which will include reports by BRDT’s chair and treasurer and the election of trustees, there will also be a short presentation on the Trust’s plans for 2026.
There will also be an opportunity to view sections of the new Discover Blairgowrie website which the team at BRDT has been working on, and to hear about the new Town Projects initiative.
BRDT is a charity that works with local people, community groups, businesses, the local authority and other stakeholders to help support and encourage a thriving and attractive town with a strong sense of community and identity, and to have a positive impact for those who live, work and visit Blairgowrie and Rattray.
It combines community-led action with an enterprising approach to addressing and tackling local needs and issues, creating social, economic and environmental strength in the town and facilitating progress on the aspirations highlighted in the town’s Community Action Plan, which outlines the aims and aspirations of the community, and Local Place Plan, which provides a vision of what the future of Perthshire’s largest town could look like.
As part of this, BRDT is responsible for a number of core projects in the town, all of which contribute towards delivering essential activities and services.
Core projects include running the public toilets in Blairgowrie, energy advice service The HEAT Project, second-hand bookstore Booklore, the BaRI Food Project, Rattray Community Garden, the Hub Magazine and Discover Blairgowrie website, Biodiversity Blair and the new Business Focus Group.
BRDT chair Linda Tait is looking forward to the AGM.
She commented: “Community-led regeneration, as outlined in our recent Local Place Plan and the Community Action Plan for Blairgowrie and Rattray, is at the heart of everything we do at BRDT and over a number of years now BRDT has grown into a highly respected organisation that delivers a huge amount of support to residents of what is the largest town in Perth and Kinross.
“At our AGM, we’ll be looking back at some of the highlights of what was achieved over the last financial year, as well as providing an insight into our plans for 2026.
“The Board is hugely grateful to our team at BRDT and the 180 volunteers who ensure that we continue to deliver for our community, as well as our professional partners in the business and third sectors, and our funders, including the Strengthening Communities Programme, The Gannochy Trust, The Robertson Trust, the Energy Redress Scheme, National Lottery Community Led, Innovate (UK), Energy Action Scotland and Perth and Kinross Council’s Community-Led Local Development fund.
“We would encourage as many people as possible to join us for the AGM on November 6th at Blairgowrie Town Hall and find out more about how BRDT is working to help develop the town.”
The AGM is open to members of the public (although only members of the Trust can vote on any decisions) as part of efforts to ensure that anyone who wishes to find out more about the work of the Trust has the opportunity to do so.
It is free to join the Trust and membership is renewed annually. It will be possible for people to join the Trust on the evening of the AGM.
Anyone who is interested in finding out more about the AGM should contact the Trust by emailing admin@brdt.org.uk
